Empower Austin Artists & Public with Web3
ATX DAO x Avalanche Artist Residency
In late 2023, ATX DAO selected 19 local artists from an open call for the Austin Artist Residency program, encompassing a diverse array of multimedia art forms ranging from painting, mural art, photography, videography, to contemporary AI art, and musicians.
Within one month, we introduced artists to cryptocurrency and demonstrated how to upload their artworks to the blockchain.
ATX DAO is the leading crypto organization in Austin, Texas - established to make a positive impact in the city and solidify Austin as a world-class crypto hub. Avalanche is a leading blockchain and a hotbed for up-and-coming NFT artists.
The Avalanche Foundation has launched Avaissance [ah-vuh-saans], an initiative to support on-the-rise digital artists and drive Avalanche NFT ecosystem growth. The unique program aims to spur Avalanche NFT growth through specialized mentorship, financial support, and DAO curation of Avalanche art.
ATX DAO brought this program to Austin to launch the ATX DAO x Avalanche Artist Residency, an opportunity for local artists to learn how to create NFTs and receive a commission once they launch their first NFT.
This program was a means to support local artists in digitizing their artworks on the blockchain. We are proud to partner with Culture on Avax, Co-Lab Projects and dadageek.
We hosted two in-person workshops at our partner’s venue, dadaLab. The entire program was curated and hosted by DAO members who volunteered to contribute to Austin’s art community.
After completing the courses, each artist created a unique NFT and minted it on the Avalanche blockchain.
Thanks to our sponsor, Culture on AVAX, we’ve onboarded Austin’s artists to Web3, minted their artworks, compensated them, and showcased their pieces in a metaverse gallery.
We celebrated the success of this program with an immersive art and live music event, showcasing all the NFTs through projections and on multiple screens throughout the venue.

ATX DAO Mural: Interactive Street Art
Through a partnership with Hope Campaign we have created a way for the community to crowdfund murals using tech and by doing so, fund a public art project. The first mural for this initiative, titled ->“Here We Go”, painted by ER on June 1, 2022. The mural was converted into a 3D Augmented Reality NFT. It is located at Native Hostel in downtown Austin.
The mural was immortalized as a metaverse-compatible NFT and proceeds of NFT sales were redistributed to the art community.
